Lovingly nicknamed 'The Babybel vase' in my pottery sketchbook because of its wonderfully round shape, this handbuilt stoneware vase is as fun as it is beautiful.
Combining traditional stoneware ceramic techniques and painterly decoration, it's a unique item with understated character. Use it to display dried flowers or to add a pop of playful warmth to a dreary shelf.
Colour: Glossy chalk white transitions into speckled cream, with a delicate band of flecked soft pinks and blues in between. This loose, landscape-inspired design captures the calm of a sunkissed misty morning in the countryside. High temperature firing accentuates the volatility of the glaze materials, creating a beautiful variety of mesmerising tones and textures across the surface. The large unglazed foot shows off the natural beauty of the white stoneware clay.
Shape: Made slowly by hand using handbuilding and slab building techniques, giving it an organic rounded form and sturdy rim. It has a flat base, a large unglazed foot and an unglazed interior.
Use: Pair with dried flowers and grasses (like our BOHO bouquet or some bunny tails) to bring out its colour and form. The interior is unglazed, so save using this for flowers that don’t require water.
